This well known health resort is situated on the west side of Lake Como at the foot of Mount Bisbino, about 4 km from the town of Como. Of all the fine houses on the lakeside, the most striking is the Villa d’Este, built in the sixteenth century by Pellegrino Tibaldi within a large garden. It has been a hotel since 1873. A trip up Mount Bisbino is recommended for the wonderful panoramic views of the lake and the Alps.
