This holiday and health resort is situated on the part of the lakeside called the Tremezzina Riviera, 28 km from the town of Como. In the town you can visit the Parish Church of San Stefano was built between the eleventh and twelfth centuries on an earlier Roman villa and is interesting for its crypt which has three naves. The Baptistery in the shape of a polygon dates from the same period. The little Romanesque church of Sant’Andrea, built in the eleventh century, can be seen in nearby Casanova. Three kilometres away is Sala Comacina with its Romanesque Church of San Giacomo and Villa Rachele. The village looks out over the lake to the Isola Comacina, the only island in the lake, and 600 m long with a perimeter of 3 km.
