Description
This thermal resort is situated in the heart of the Maremma area, in a valley of the River Albegna, and is surrounded by hills covered with olive groves and cypresses. Nearby is the ancient village of Saturnia which still has remains of its pre-Etruscan, Roman and Sienese walls. The medieval village of Manciano, 13 km away, is also interesting and has a fortress built by the Sienese in the fifteenth century.
