MONTE ISOLA
Monte Isola is a group of little villages scattered over the island of Montisola on Lake Iseo in the province of Brescia. These are Peschiera Maraglio, the best known of them, Sensole, a pretty little place with the ruins of the Martinengo fortress, Siviano at the north-west end and the local government centre, and Carzano which faces Sale Marasino. The island is a popular place for holidays and excursions, in particular to the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Ceriola on the highest point on Montisola at an altitude of 600 m, where you have wonderful views.
You can get to Siviano, Sensole, Peschiera and Carzano by ferry from Iseo, Sarnico and other points on the lake. Ferries for Peschiera Maraglio leave from Sulzano on the Brescia side, for Carzano from Sale Marasino, and for Sensole from Tavernola, on the Bergamo side.
