This is a popular tourist seaside resort, a busy fishing village and well known spa on the Adriatic coast of Friuli. It is situated on an island between the sea and the lagoon on the west side of the bay of Trieste.
You can visit the Church of Sant’Eufemia, which was built in the sixth century, the fifteenth century bell tower with its statue of St Michael, the octagonal Baptistery built in the fifth century, and the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie dating from the fourth to fifth centuries but rebuilt in the seventeenth.
