2/18/00 Cerda (Palermo) Sicily (Gloria Anzalone Shelton)
I am trying to locate any information on Cerda,a small town in the province of Palermo, Sicily. Does anyone have any information on this village? Thanks so much.
2/22/00 Re:Cerda (Palermo) Sicily (ROY COCO)
THE POSTAL CODE (ZIP CODE) IS 90010.
2/15/00 Italian Hotel Ratings (Betsy Donlon)
I am not certain whether stars are given on basis of amenities and location (as in France) or on basis of quality of the facilities. We are trying to find a very small, charming but not fancy, obviously clean and comfortable hotel with room views and balconies on the Amalfi Coast. We are focussing on Ravello as that seems to be off the beaten path. Will appreciate any input. (Also, is there a source for objective reviews of various hotels?)
2/13/00 Parma and vicinity (Steve)
We have previously traveled to Sta. Marghuerita Ligure, Florence, and Venice and were delighted beyond expectations--especially by Venice. We would like to return to Italy and I have heard that Parma is a wonderful center of culture and cuisine. Can anyone offer comments and recommendations for Parma and the surrounding area as well as other localities in adjacent regions that could reasonably be included if we travel by train for up to 2 weeks. Grazia.
  3/20/00 Re:Parma and vicinity (Ada)
I am planning a trip to Sta Margherita and Parma myself. If you have any information as to what to see and where to stay, perhaps also in Cinque Terre. I would appreciate it. Ada
2/13/00 charming accommodations in Rome, Florence & Venice (Bonnie)
I'd like to find a charming, very reasonable accommodations in April for my husband and I in Rome, Florence and Venice. We are considering B&B's, convents, etc. so we can really get to know the Italians on a more personal level. Any suggestions?
2/12/00 Dolomites and Lake district (Don)
Need info on bus and train trail to and from Cortina/Bolzano and Cortina/Como
2/12/00 ashtrays (Pat)
I am a science teacher in the Dallas, Texas area of the United States. My students and I saw a film on Mt. Etna. In the film, the villagers went onto the mountain to scoop up lava and form it into ashtrays with the Mt. Etna letters on them. I would like to have an e-mail address of a tourist shop that might have this sort of ashtray for sale. Please, if you are familiar with any of the tourist shops in that area, write back. Thanks.......
2/11/00 Inn in San Daniele (Nina Moroso)
Am looking for info about my Old Nonno's residence in San Daniele. His name was Nicholas Polano and his home is apparantly an inn of some sort now. Hope to visit Italy, Udine in particular and explore family roots. Any help?
2/19/00 Re:Inn in San Daniele (karen)
If you want to visit San Daniele, there is a prosciutto festival at the end of August. It usually attracts large crowds (ie hundreds of thousands of people over 4 days), and is reputed to be the largest fest in Europe after the Oktoberfest. My fiance comes from Udine and it is a pretty and quiet town, very different from what we typically see in movies. Good luck.
2/10/00 Ballooning in Tuscany (Dennis Tavares)
