3/16/00 Hotel in Rome (Sandi Lazzaro)
I am looking for a reasonably priced hotel in Rome for my daughter and I, comfortable and in a safe area (as we will be traveling alone). I am also open to B & B's keeping in mind that we will be travel in country by train and in city by public transportation and walking. Any suggestions. Need dates: June 8, 9 & 10...it's got to be special...I am celebrating my 50th BD!

I stay at a wonderful hotel in Rome called Hotel Locarno. They have a website. Centrally located, near Piazza del Popolo, this is a gorgeous small hotel in true Art Deco style. I think a double now costs about $140 per night US. Another nice hgotel (though not as nice) in the same price range and good location is the Hotel Portoghesi, which is near the Pantheon. Hope this helps.

I can suggest a WONDERFUL hotel. I would highly suggest the Hotel Kennedy. We paid $138.00 for a triple for a very nice room with airconditioning. The owners and operators speak perfect english (a real treat, trust me here...) and are very helpful in seeing that your stay in Rome is very pleasant. They are located within a 5 minute walk from the main train station (and McDonald's) located in the heart of Rome. webpage -> https://itwg.com/itw12017.asp Do NOT stay at the Hotel California. They fraudulently charged my credit card for a night that I stayed elsewhere and produced a receipt as proof... I hope you have a pleasant trip and I know the Hotel Kennedy help you make it happen!
3/15/00 San Daniele (Nina Moroso)
I am planning a trip to northern Italy in the Fall of 2000 and would like to find out information about my Old Nonno's house which has been turned into an inn, yet I don't know the name. His name was Nicholas Polano and he moved to Copper Cliff Ontario and opened a general store...eventually called Moroso's Store. Any info about the Inn or my family's history would be welcomed.

Might you be thinking of Trastevere? I am planning on staying there when I arrive April 13, 2000. This is more a suburb of Rome but a very nice area.

3/15/00 Train prices (Sandi Lazzaro)
I am considering the Italian Kilometric Ticket or Point to Point Tickets. Price is more if purchansed in the US...should I wait to purchase in Italy? Transportation needed from Rome airport to Sorrento, Sorrento to Rome, Rome to Assisi, Assisi to Florence, Florence to Venice for 2 persons. What is the best way to do this?
  3/27/00 Re:Train prices (alan)
i have been to iatly four times and this august is number 5...the kilometric is good because two can use it...also try the flexipass with 8 days of travel in a month...compare prices...also figure out the actual prices without passes...this could be the cheapest of all...incidentally...happy birthday...i will be 52 in two weeks...for additional info try www.fs-on-line.com
3/14/00 Trains (Donovan)
I am having problems finding information on train prices within Italy. Does any one know a good web page to go to?
  3/16/00 Re:Trains (Trevor Owens)
If you make contact by email eurail@railtickets.com.au you will be able to obtain information and fares for train travel within Italy. We found them very helpful.

3/14/00 Val D'Aosta (Tanja)
We are a group of 15 Finnish "stainless steel fans" who are looking for possibilities to travel to Val D'Aosta. We thought to fly to and stay at Milan but then make a one or two day trip to Val D'Aosta. We are especially interested in finding and seeing there enterprises that produce things of stainless steel. Could I get any hints or help ? Please... Thanks in advance !
