Monte Sant'Angelo è uno dei luoghi più suggestivi dell'area del Gargano. Sorge a 796 metri s.l.m. a 54 km. da Foggia e 24 km. da San Giovanni Rotondo (città di Padre Pio). Il nucleo urbano si è sviluppato intorno al Santuario di San Michele, uno dei più importanti della cristianità, meta di pellegrini da secoli e una delle tappe principali del Giubileo del 2000.

A 150 metri dal Santuario di San Michele, celebre per le apparizioni verificatesi dal 490 al 493 d.C. che ne hanno fatto una meta di pellegrinaggio di migliaia di fedeli nel corso dei secoli, in una suggestiva strada storica sorge il bel ristorante "Real". Ambiente classico, con ampia sala dove trovano comoda sistemazione 90 - 100 persone, aria condizionata, filodiffusione, impianto TV, bar.

Il ristorante Real offre al turista un interessante menù: cucina saporita e tradizionale, salumi e formaggi locali, orecchiette e troccoli (tipica pasta fatta a mano dalle casalinghe del posto), pesce fresco del Golfo di Manfredonia, capretto, agnello e salsiccia di maiale, vino locale e internzionale; dolci locali, come le "ostie ripiene", taralli con vino e finocchietti. Un piccolo assaggio dei piatti tipici del Gargano che potrete gustare al Ristorante Real sono: le orecchiette al sugo di capretto e agnello, le orecchiette alle cime di rape (broccoletti), quelle agli scampi e rucola e i troccoli ai funghi porcini.

 Monte Sant' Angelo is one of the most fascinating sites in the Gargano area. It rises 796 meters above sea level and is situated 54 kilometers from Foggia and 24 kilometers from San Giovanni Rotondo (the city of Padre Pio). The urban nucleus developed around the Sanctuary of San Michele, one of the most important Christian monuments, a pilgrimage destination for centuries and one of the principal sites for the Jubilee of 2000.

The beautiful restaurant "Real" is located in a characteristic historic street, 150 meters from the Sanctuary of San Michele. Verified apparitions from 490 to 493 A.D. have made it a famous pilgrimage destination for thousands of faithful over the course of centuries. The "Real" has a traditional atmosphere, a large dining room with seating for 90 to 100 people, air conditioning, sound system, television, and bar.


The "Real" Restaurant offers tourists an interesting menu of tasty traditional foods, local meats and cheeses, orecchiette and troccoli (typical pastas made by hand by cooks in our own kitchens), fresh fish from the Gulf of Manfredonia, goat, lamb and pork sausage, local and international wines, local desserts, such as the ostie ripiene (filled pastry), taralli (ring-shaped pastry) with wine, and finocchietti.
A small sample of typical dishes from the Gargano that you can taste at "The Royal Restaurant" are orecchiette with goat or lamb sauce, orecchiette with cime di rape (broccoli), orecchiette with scampi and rucola and troccoli with porcini mushrooms.
