Le prime notizie documentate della struttura, risalgono ai primi anni del secolo XI, quando il territorio sul quale sorge apparteneva al Vescovo di Volterra, feudatario del Sacro Romano Impero.
Fu' dapprima una prospera Abbazia quando, alla fine del 1400, il Cardinale Giuliano Della Rovere, divenuto poi Papa Giulio II, aggiunse un fabbricato per la propria residenza e per quella dei successivi vescovi che per oltre 400 anni rimase nel possesso ecclesiastico.
Tra il 1998 ed il 1999 l'intero complesso e' stato restaurato e riportato all'antico splendore per ricavarne un elegante albergo.
Il restauro, eseguito con sapiente attenzione, ha riportato in luce elementi e strutture dei quali si era perfino perso il ricordo, restituendo all'edificio l'originale armonia. Forti dell'esperienza gia' acquisita nel campo della ricettivita' con altre strutture storiche nella provincia di Siena, abbiamo aperto le porte del Relais Della Rovere con l'obiettivo di fornire ad una clientela sempre piu' esigente un servizio degno dell'ospitalita' italiana.

 The first mention of the structure is in documents dating back to the early XI century, when the territory upon which it is built belonged to the Bishop of Volterra, feudatory of the Holy Roman Empire. Initially it was a prosperous abbey when, at the end of the 1400's Cardinal Giuliano Della Rovere, later to become Pope Giulio II, added a house for himself and subsequent bishops, which remained in possession of the church for over 400 years. Between 1998 and 1999 the entire complex was restored to its original splendour to create an elegant hotel. The restoration work, carried out by experts, has brought to the light elements and structures which had been long forgotten, recreating the building's original harmony. Made strong by the experience in the field of hospitality gained in other historical buildings in the province of Siena, we opened the doors of Relais Della Rovere with the aim of providing a increasingly demanding clientele a level of service fitting of Italian hospitality.

 Die ersten nachgewiesenen Hinweise auf die Struktur gehen auf die ersten Jahre des 11. Jhds. zurück, als das Land auf dem sie steht dem Bischof von Volterra gehörte, Lehnsherr des Heiligen Römischen Reichs. Sie war zu Anfang eine blühende Abtei als, gegen Ende des 15. Jhds., der Kardinal Giuliano Della Rovere, später Papst Julius II., ein Gebäude als Wohnsitz für sich selbst und für die nachfolgenden Bischöfe anbaute, das für über 400 Jahre im Besitz der Kirche blieb.
Zwischen 1993 und 1999 wurde die gesamte Anlage restauriert und erhielt wieder ihren alten Glanz, um zu einem eleganten Hotel zu werden. Die mit weiser Aufmerksamkeit durchgeführte Renovierung hat Elemente und Strukturen ans Licht gebracht, von denen man nichts mehr wußte, und dem Gebäude seine ursprüngliche Harmonie zurückgegeben. Auf der Grundlage der Erfahrung, die wir schon im Bereich der Gastlichkeit mit anderen historischen Gebäuden in der Provinz Siena gesammelt hatten, haben wir die Tore des Relais Della Rovere geöffnet, mit dem Ziel, einer immer anspruchsvolleren Kundschaft einen Service zu bieten, welcher der italienischen Gastfreundschaft würdig ist.

 Les premières nouvelles qui documentent la structure remontent aux premières années du XIème, quand le territoire sur lequel elle se dressait, appartenait à l'Evêque de Volterra, feudataire du "Sacro Romano Impero". Elle fut d'abord, une abbaye prospère quand, à la fin du XVème siècle, le Cardinal Giuliano Della Rovere, devenu Pape Jules II, ajouta un édifice comme propre résidence et pour celle des évêques successifs qui, pendant plus de 400 ans, resta propriété ecclésiastique. Entre 1998 et 1999 tout l'ensemble a été restauré et ramené à l'ancienne splendeur pour en faire un élégant hôtel.
L'oeuvre de rénovation, effectuée avec une attention particulière, a ramené à la lumière, des éléments et des structures dont le souvenir était perdu, en rendant à l'édifice son harmonie d'origine. Forts de l'expérience acquise dans le secteur de l'hôtellerie avec d'autres structures historiques dans la Province de Sienne, nous avons ouvert les portes du Relais Della Rovere dans le but de fournir à une clientèle de plus en plus exigeante, un service digne de l'hospitalité italienne.
