Caro Cliente, La villa Westend fu costruita negli anni 1890 dall´allora famoso architetto Pietro Delugan, come carta da visita e come rappresentanza di tutta la sua bravura. Cosi creò la villa con una delle più belle facciata nella Merano della sua epoca. Fu riconosciuto in tempo, che questa casa era ed è un gioello nello suo stile storico liberty e fu messa sotto protezione delle belle arti nel 1984. Nel 1907 questa casa, lungo il Passirio (Passeggiata Stefanie come venne chiamata), fu comperata dalla famiglia Pöder, che La gesti come Pensione. Con molta passione, lavoro e idealismo turistico riusci a soppravivere due guerre e gli anni movimentati seguenti. La Pensione Westend ospitava persone molto note, fra di cui il famoso poeta Gottfried Benn, che scrisse delle lettere e poesie famose ai suoi amici da Merano e dalla Westend. Nel 1983 la casa cambiò proprietari, e fu una felice coincidenza, poichè coloro, possedendo già l´Hotel Europa Splendid, derivavano da una famiglia con una lunga tradizione alberghiera. Con molto adattamento fu ristrutturata la casa e portata alle esigenze moderne, rispettando lo stile e il fleur. Nell´ anno 1986 fu denominato Hotel e dotato con tre stelle. Questo gioiello è situato in un giardino meraviglioso lungo il Passirio, in una posizione centrale e nello stesso momento lontano dai rumori della città, dove gli ospiti possono godere in tranquilità le loro vacanze. Benessere deriva dalle cose che contano: un ambiente signorile, camere spaziose, ariose, assolate, una cucina di qualità, dove il „fatto in casa“ non è superato, ma sopratutto ed è la cosa più importante, dall´atmosfera e l´accoglienza sincera unità all´idealismo ed alla professionaltià degli albergatori. Strohmer Dear Guest, to ensure that you really do feel at home at our Hotel, we would like to give you a little more background information about the Westend. The Hotel was, in fact, built as a privat Villa in 1890 by the then-famous local architect Pietro Delugan to serve as his very own personal visiting – card – the perfect example of his art and skill and certainly with one of the moste beautiful facades in all Merano at that time. The building is now justly recognised as a true jewel of the decoratet Liberty stile and has been under the protection of the Belle Arti, a national society for valuable historic buildings, since the year 1984. The Villa pleasantly situatetd along the cool, shady river-side walk once known as the stefanie Promenade, was sold to the Pöder family in 1907 and the managed it as a quest house through the troubeld times of tow World wars and the very unsettled period afterwards. A host of famous guests have holiday at the Westend including the German poet Gottfried Benn who wrote many letters and poems to freind and family during his stay. The Strohmer family, long active in the hotel and catering business and already owners of the Hotel Europa Splendid, bought the Hotel 1983 and remodernised it completely with both taste and style. The Westend was awardet 3-star status in 1986. The hotel has a delightful garden along the river and is in quiet yet central position, away from the hustle and bustle of the towne – the ideal place for a truly relaxining holiday.
